Not at all hypocritical.

(Seriously, the guy is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either way he’s a traitor. Proving himself to be a true Greyjoy is the only path for him to take. What could he do, go back to Robb? Back to being a hostage? They’d probably have him killed to try and stop Balon.)
